I went out on a limb and marked this as affecting lubuntu-meta, since
Lubuntu uses lightdm-gtk-greeter by default.

Apologies, I don't know the exact text of the dialog box, so it's

This bug is against Lubuntu 16.04 specifically.

WHAT I EXPECT TO HAPPEN
A graphical overlay should be displayed on the
Never mind, the bug is referenced in lubuntu-meta, I will try to get
some attention on it via forums, etc. This is pretty nasty for anyone
who wants to use GStreamer apps in Lubuntu.

This is still a problem in Lubuntu 16.04. gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio is
installed by default (presumably following Ubuntu), gstreamer1.0-alsa is
not.
'sudo apt install gstreamer1.0-alsa' fixes the problem. Gstreamer apps
such as banshee now output audio instead of silence.

I tried to remove mysql after encountering this bug and still had
leftovers giving me errors every time I ran apt.
For those who ended up here looking for a workaround to remove debris,
try:
sudo apt purge mysql-client-5.7 mysql-client-core-5.7 mysql-common
mysql-server-5.7
Yes please. Maybe gpointing-device-settings or something similar, a
front end for synclient.

This is happening to me in the Lubuntu 16.04 install.
I'm installing from a USB stick. It's a 2008 Macbook with an aftermarket

What are the errors you're seeing? Is this similar to #1588338?

I disagree with the no longer affects Launchpad. This is a matter of
policy and as such very definitely DOES affect Launchpad, regardless of
the resolution of bug #1331914.

Evidently I need to make a separate comment to attach the proper

This is still a problem. Who is the maintainer that can review the
