problems. After a reboot my .Xauthority file was owned by root causing
me to be stuck at the login screen with poor screen resolution. I was
able to fix the .Xauthority file:

I think this is connected to the iwlwifi module. Maybe there should be
an addition to the bug description saying something like "Network
manager suspends but is unable to reconnect to Wifi."

I have the same issue, two usb memories don't work when booting the new
kernel. One of them is a flash drive and one is a hard disk. Another
flash drive and a sd card in a usb card reader work. When booting the
3.8.0-27 kernel all memories work. All my USB ports are USB2.0.

I had the same problem upgrading slapd on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
Using a workaround (commenting out SLAPD_CONF in /etc/default/slapd and
running `aptitude -f install`) I was able to make dpkg happy.

I am experiencing the same situation on an HP Pavillion notebook.
I updated from kubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 shortly before 8.10 was released and have
applied all updates since.
It is worth noting that the boot process does not *always* hag at the
*same* points. I can always get the system up, eventuall
