well i don't mind if it's not done at startup...
but i have shortcuts on my desktop...
and programs like transmissions, my shortcut may also request for files on
those systems...
i ask that once such a request is made... then it gets mounted... now you get a
file does not exist or something
As i wrote in:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/696130
the partitions/usb should not be mounted if plugged in... only if someone or
something ask for it...
- this can be a user clicking in nautilus
- a user clicking on a shortcut (pointing to something on a plugged in but

i think it would only be usefull if you could make a directory on your USB
stick a UDF (user defined folder)
which is harder if you make it cross platform, because windows mounts the USB
differently then ubuntu i suppose...
though i haven't given this much thought...
i haven't really tried
any progress?

i think the problem, (don't know if its the same as the original poster), might
be caused due to the nvidea drivers... cause out of desperation i did a fresh
install..
and i did a restart after i added these drivers and the problem immediately
started to occur again...
and by using some kinda
i think i have the same problem but then with ubuntu 9.04...
even if i wait a little at the login screen (the black thing to enter username)
it still freezes... keyboard is unresponsive... (it doesn't flicker like it
used to when my cpu got to hot...) mouse still works for a while... but then it

ooh thats very cool!
i couldn't find on the portable/colinux websites, if these USB's would still be
bootable / live session (or did you mean that by standalone?). Cause if this
is, it would mean pretty much the most work of this will be done!!!
(least i think...)
and i think the ubuntuone

oke i did a fresh install of ubuntu 9.04, partitioned ext4 both / and /home/ ...
and i no longer have these bugs during startup!!!
so i guess you can close this bug for me... dont know about the others...
do i do find it suspisious and weird, that the update didnt do the exact
same thing... cause
i know i am not the guy you asked... but i tried to install the beta..
and i have less usb-device errors, but there still there...
there where about 24 now there are something like 6 errors...
so this saves more then a minute of boot time...
also its hard to tell cause of the new boot splash, but
ok it once connected i can still google and stuff again... thanks...
only cant remote login to the network anymore... but thats prop cause i forgot
to add all the right ip adrresses to the list...
i must agree with the poster that it has become non-intuitive...
