If you want to try installing Grub in bootsector of /dev/hda2, run grub

I have got it, feisty fawn is working properly now, finally i installed
the grub on (hd0,1), that is on /dev/hda2 (typing (/dev/hda2) on
advanced options of install didn't work). So i didnt need to install
feisty in the primary partition i did in the second partition of the
first hard disk (/dev/hd

- I have type (hd0,0), but /dev/hda1 also should work. This will install Grub
in bootsector of /dev/hda1.
But remember, in this case you must have another boot manager installed. I
I think, i am understanding little bit, so i should install feisty on
/dev/hda1 not on /dev/hda2 because that causes the problem, but i dont
know how to install the grub in a specific partition, because i though
that just it could be installed on MBR and not on a partition.

Right flexter. I'm running Ubuntu Feisty Fawn just now.
I don't know if the installation of grub in the bootsector of the partition of
Feisty really helped to get the system boot.
I'ii explain what I did, since the firts installation attemp of Feisty:
My fdisk output:

Have you tried the hack on page 2 of the thread ?
Yes, i've read it, as i started it logged in as kalimotxo ;). And i've
tried and works but it's not a real solution since you have to do that
workaround everytime you boot your pc. Have you tried it?

Hi,
I have the same problem on 3 machines - all have a SIS IDE controller.
This worked with Edgy. Booting feisty is impossible.
It seems that there is some race condition with the IDE modules, and
they crash when they are loaded.

Thanks for answer!
My ATA controller is SIS. Is only ATA, I don't have SATA.
00:02.5 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev d0)
(prog-if 80 [Master])
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Unknown device 807a

as /dev/ is filled by udev. and as udev apparently fails to load a
module, I would bet it is a useful one to access your drives. Failing to
load it prevents the boot.
What is your ATA controller ?

Thanks Olivier,
No, i don't have it wrong, simply i havent it, i have been checking on
my system directories (/dev) and none of my partitions seem to appear

Grub now uses UUID to boot. Could it have it wrong ?
be sure that your grub line read root=UUID=XX, with the correct
UUID, which you can get from a the livecd.
