Gutsy upgrade to Hardy Alpha 2 broke mythfrontend video playback

I upgraded to 8.04 over the weekend, so I am able to test this bug again
on the same hardware that prompted the original bug report. The video
and audio stuttering is not as bad as it was in Alpha 2, but it's still
present. Per Jake Anderson, I tried disabling OpenGL sync in the MythTV
options (n
I am having the same WriteAudio: buffer underrun problem and I think its
related.
I originally asked on the forums about this, but the solutions I got
were not able resolve my problem.

I just took a look at their bug tracker but I couldn't find a related
bug report. If nobody beats me to it, I can file onoe tomorrow.
It was discussed on the xorg mailing list, tho

I've just patched my ati driver and DRM video sync works now. Since the
original scope of this bug report was OpenGL video sync, I'm not sure if
it's appropriate but oh well..
I modified the ATI driver as suggested in that thread on mythtv-users.
Here's the diff; use at your own risk:

Jake,
after upgrading to Hardy I noticed that DRM video sync stopped working
for me. Judging by the mythtv-users thread you've posted, my problem
might be related. I'll try to recompile the ati driver on this box.
You're luckier than me, though: RTC video sync will lock up playback for
me after a
Just for reference, i'm on a core2 duo machine with onboard G33 chipset
graphics and i'm getting those same bad context errors.

This seems to be a bug with (at least) the intel driver, aparently it also
exists for some version of ATI but i am unsure if that is being shipped with
hardy.

Upstream bug #4764 may account for others' problems, but I doubt it was
the cause of my original report as it was traced to a commit (16234)
that happened weeks after I reported my problems.
(BTW, I ended up wiping and installing Gutsy again, hence my silence on
this bug.)

Gutsy upgrade to Ha
I just updated my gutsy frontend/backend to the hardy beta and I'm
having the same problem. No matter what decoder I use, I get stuttering
playback and a log FULL of WriteAudio buffer underrun. Playback was
working flawlessly before the upgrade using Standard decoder.

In looking at that terminal output, I would suspect a broken opengl
driver. Have you tried to switch Vsync methods away from opengl?
Additionally, if you would like this to be passed upon upstream, we will
need an apport crash report attached to the bug. Can you see if you
have any crash reports
