[Bug 180814] Re: Gutsy upgrade to Hardy Alpha 2 broke mythfrontend video playback

2008-04-28 Thread Joseph Mark Jarvis
I upgraded to 8.04 over the weekend, so I am able to test this bug again on the same hardware that prompted the original bug report. The video and audio stuttering is not as bad as it was in Alpha 2, but it's still present. Per Jake Anderson, I tried disabling OpenGL sync in the MythTV options

This seems to be a bug with (at least) the intel driver, aparently it also exists for some version of ATI but i am unsure if that is being shipped with hardy. see http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2007-November/203037.html for more information, there is apparently a fix there too but

Jake, after upgrading to Hardy I noticed that DRM video sync stopped working for me. Judging by the mythtv-users thread you've posted, my problem might be related. I'll try to recompile the ati driver on this box. You're luckier than me, though: RTC video sync will lock up playback for me after a

I've just patched my ati driver and DRM video sync works now. Since the original scope of this bug report was OpenGL video sync, I'm not sure if it's appropriate but oh well.. I modified the ATI driver as suggested in that thread on mythtv-users. Here's the diff; use at your own risk: ---
