Sorry to delay so long with my reply. Can you please explain how ndiswrapper may help me? I didn't keep windows on the laptop at all. Would this make a difference with ndiswrapper? I have reviewed these threads. The one sticky from wineman, I have reviewed in the past prior to posting my bug.

ndiswrapper is a program that allows you to use windows drivers for a wireless device in Linux. You don't need to have windows--you can generally get the drivers off the manufacturer's website, or a driver CD, or ask someone with the same device who is running windows. It's not a perfect solution,
