If you have ATI card and are using the proprietary fglrx driver, then
you should do a full upgrade, because the fglrx from hardy's repository
isn't compatible with the new kernel.
On my side, it took about 1 hour to do a full upgrade. If you don't have

Ok, I will upgrade only the kernel, and later (if still dont work)
i'll upgrade to 8.10.

ivancete, this is a kernel-related bug and I don't know if the people
from Canonical are going to fix it. I downgraded my desktop computer to

8.10, where the problem seems to be fixed.

Hi, I have a similar problem, I'm also have a MSI motherboard, the model is
"MSI 848 P Neo-V" In my case, after successfully shut down the computer from
Ubuntu, this is turned on immediately after being turned off. This does not

I also have 7.10 on this machine. As it is my only machine at the moment
and don't have the time to test in detail i prefer to wait for either
the 2.6.27 kernel release in 8.04 or a more definite version of 8.10

Hi

In the meantime I also installed Suse 11.0 (has an even newer kernel)
but get the same problem.

We have discovered how to change the time at which the computer is to be
