working for me. Latest update of 3.04 was still failing until I removed
that file.

For me it happens all the time I open a new window: Firefox takes the
whole screen (window title bar and gnome main bar disappear & and
Firefox menu shows really on top of the screen; gnome task bar
disappears & Firefox status bar shows in bottom of the screen).

Just tried uninstalling Compiz since it was mentioned another linked bug. This
just seemed to bugger everything up so have reinstalled it again. No change.
Still have to go through the F11 temporary fix.

When Firefox opened cannot see minimisation/ close buttons and it appears to
overwrite the drop down ability of the panel.
F11 pressed will get it back to its original state but this has to be done
every time when opening firefox.

I installed Firefox 3.1 beta 2 [pre] (I imagine any other Firefox
version might work). I ran Firefox once under the alternate version, and
the new version started in an un-maximized state. I quit the alternate
version.

TKEP's fix is only temporary for me. 8.10 amd64. Additionally, FF's top
border is white as though inactive until switching focus to another

I'm affected by this as well, but do have a *lame* workaround.
Simply press F11 to make the window go to true "fullscreen" mode. Then,
press F11 again. Viola, Firefox is its normal self (aside from the
rendering bug I'm running into).
