I made the required tests on 8.10. As explained above, the out-of-the-
box hardware manager for the atheros wifi card does not work. I
downloaded a patched one and it worked quite well. I still have only one
small problem related to the network. During the boot process, the

Thanks for your answer. I read the thread above. It looks like the one
in French I followed. However, I noticed that I didnt' install the very
last version of the madwifi driver. The procedure I followed pointed me
on a patched version of the driver: madwifi-
hal-0.10.5.6-r3835-20080801.
I had the same or similar issue with generic.
I thought it was NVIDIA but now thinking Atheros. I'd enabled on or both
atheros boxes in Hardware Drivers. Locked up on restart.
The latest rt kernel seems to work great with wifi after i followed the
