What Mikel means is that this fix should be out of -proposed and into
the main intrepid branch, so you don't have to run the -proposed kernel

I avoid running -proposed updates unless there's a package I

The version of linux-modules from intrepid-proposed seems to have
resolved the issue for me (no issues after a day of use) and has not
caused any further regressions. Turns out this bug also caused most of
my other problems, such as with sleep and hibernate, and it being fixed
has greatly improved
That's not surprising at all, linux-backports-modules still has a buggy
version of the driver. You should remove that package, it has other
problems, too.

Thinkpad T61 I can confirm that this is a intel wireless 4965 bug
related to WPA. I used to sporadically get this bug as far back as
linux 2.6.25.10 custom complied on a Hardy system through 2.6.26.5 and
now on a Intrepid system stock kernel. It started with the driver that
added LED support, it

I'm also getting these 'bad: scheduling from the idle thread!' entries
that eventually exhaust the hard disk due to giant log file sizes in
/var/log. The interesting thing is that it starts to happen only and
immediately after I disable Wireless through the NetworkManager tray
icon. Re-enabling Wir

This lockup seemed to random to me with no kernel errors or anything
being reported in the logs. It's a hard freeze of the entire system
with the only activity being the flashing lights on the computer. I was
almost starting to think I was having the beginnings of a hardware
failure but now someo
The time of the lock up was on 16:06. As I said here is nothing in the
logs. Every aforementioned log have message:

Jakub,
What was the date/time when the system locked up? You'll want to check
your logs matching up those times to help figure out why the kernel
panicked.
As to the printout you provided, those look like routine firewall logs.
To get help with turning that off, see
http://www.ubuntu.com/support
I've just got the freeze with flashing caps lock/num lock. To reboot I
needed to use power button so was quite serious... :/ I haven't seen any
particular reason or thing in the logs. I just get this sort of messages
all the time (messaes, syslog, kern.log):

So far linux-image 2.6.27-8 (amd64) is working fine.
@Robb Topolski: I used envyng to install the nvidia driver and it is
working fine with this kernel. There's the envyng-qt version if you want
the GUI or envyng -t (ie text mode) if you run from the kernel. I tried
the qt version, rebooted, and i

Worth repeating.
I tried to apply only linux-image-2.6.27-8-generic and Synaptic let me
do so without complaint. I booted i

Same here. I enabled the Proposed repository and was expecting for a
linux-image-* package to appear in the updates after a refresh, but so far it
hasn't. Retried just seconds ago.
I'm using the patch meanwhile, and the good news is that the bug hasn't
appeared again.
