Hello, I have a sony ericsson w350i and a hp pavillion ze 2108ea with Ubuntu 8.10. I experience the same problem. If I connect my phone it does recognize it as a mobile broadand device, but it does not mount it to show the files that are on the phone. So I'm affraid it's not an coocked usb port.
