Yes, it helped and KDE now behaves as before: - if effects are off, scrolling is fast - if effects are on, then scrolling is choppy, but less choppy than after all day using KDE without XAA Fortunately for me I don't use effects. But if I was, then it would be a compromise for me. In any case

To rule out KDE/Qt you can log in to a Failsafe X Terminal session (or whatever it is called in the login options) and run non-KDE applications. You won't get menus etc, so you have to start things from the command line, e.g. firefox. For EXA (default if you remove XAA from xorg.conf) there are

Tormod, as I wrote in my initial bug description, the scrolling and rendering is choppy only for KDE applications and if I run GTK application in the KDE session, they are not choppy. So the running KDE don't influence non-KDE applicaions. But I'll play with these options and if I find something
