The problem is that it doesn't work on Karmic with its kernel 2.6.31

Hello,
I managed to get the wireless work in my Fujitsu Siemens laptop. (see my prev.
message above).
The Atheros wifi driver is loaded and ok, but the hardware is simply switched
off, and the hotkey button (to switch it on) is not enabled.
So I downloaded source code for the acerhk hoykey driv

wireless card found by kernel...

Hi I'm running into this same problem. The modprobe workaround fixes it
temporarily, but no updates have made a permanent fix so far. I tried to
follow the rfkill stuff, but the /sys/class/rfkill directory on my
laptop is empty. I'm using a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527.

I have a slide switch on the front of the pc for wifi. slide it off then slide
it on, locks computer down completely. no mouse even. Have to force off then
restart comp.
Also tried already having it turned off then turning it on after booting

Simply push the wireless key on the keyboard, wait few seconds and ...
ops! everything is ok!
the network icon on the panel change to "connected".
Of course pushing again the wireless key turn the wifi off.
