Yes, this bug is related to some "broken" mirrors you might be using.
Actually it shouldn't crash at all of course but when developing I never had a
mirror that provided me NULL values to some data.
The fix was done in packagekit-backend-aptcc and it fixed another bug:

Same here, Kubuntu 10.10. It seemed to be working until i got
update(think so).

Happened on my fresh up-to-date x86 install as well.
I changed sources in kpackagekit (through "edit origins") to find out if it
happens only when there are updates available. Instead of crashing turning some
sources off and than back on (with restarts in between) solved the problem and
notifie
This is occuring on Kubuntu 10.10, which I just upgraded to from 10.04.
