reduce it by default...

And finally I've fixed it for myself, so this bug should be closed.
I find that it is indeed the Compiz Scale plugin which is active by
default in Natty, although the configuration begins with different
spacing than I'm used to.
By installing "Compiz Config Settings Manager" I find a control pane
A very prompt response, Florian, and appreciated. I'm uploading a
screenshot - attached.
However, I'm suspicious now that I've collapsed together a bug intended
for unity and targeted unity-2d by mistake. Not sure how the structure
of these two projects are separated if at all.
