policy libgl1-mesa-dri', and if you don't have 8.0.2-0ubuntu3.1
installed update your machine and test again.

Running XFCE installed from scratch (as Xubuntu) and so far no freezes.
No other solutions (new kernels, upgrading xorg, using 2D vs 3D) above
worked.

This bug still happening in 32 bit mode my original post #39. Haven't
used the machine for 5 days as it has been unusable, freezing after a

mouse around. Some times I can change to tty1-tty6, some times I can't.

For two days no freezes. But other problems appeared. My camera stopped

I really don't understand Launchpad. When I report a bug, I get
instructions not to report a new bug, but instead to find another bug
report and say I'm experiencing it too. But when I do that, the bug
gets closed "Won't Fix." Oh well. I guess I'll try generating a new
bug report.

Ok, my XFCE at home freezes too. But at the office with exactly the same
hardware it doesn't freeze. And the difference is that the one that
doesn't freeze was a clean Xubuntu 12.04 install while the one that
freezes was a regular Ubuntu upgrade from Oneiric.

I promised you that I will let you know my experience when I install a

I plugged in a ATI HD5770 PCIe card into my machine and after struggling with
the installation of the AMD drivers, I finally succeeded to install the drivers
on ubuntu 12.04 64bit kernel 3.2 as show in
