During upgrade to 7.10 from 7.04 I get the message: Could not install
nvidia-glx with the additional message package nvidia-glx already
installed. Consider bug report.
Upgrading probably failed, try dpkg --configure -a. That seemed to work,
but the CPU was 100 % busy.
You see that this *really* IS a problem since the Alternate Installer
isn't even able to show up! Without altering any boot parameters!
People won't be able to install Gutsy if this bug remains.

I add to my report that in my installation resolution and refresh rate

I've been playing with this, and found forcing a reset of the Xv registers
after a mode-switch seems to help this problem.

etc. report that my writing can write up to 8 speed. It seems that the
default is 8 speed but that one doesn't work and gives an error message

Yes, according to the buildlog, python-qt3 has been installed.

isapnp hangs on boot time kernel 2.6.17-10-generic (ubuntu edgy)
I just rebooted (because I wanted to make sure that it didn't just
happen on the first boot after a theme change), but now it appears that
the panels are still gone. Can someone else try changing some parts of
your theme (maybe window border, controls, etc.), and then reboot? I
