I've had trouble getting dmix and 5.1 surround sound to work for the longest
time on my nForce4 based onboard sound card. Changing .asoundrc to the attached
file finally fixed it.

Problem is also occuring on Toshiba U205. Very unpleasant...my computer
is crashing 2-3 times per day, and I can't close my laptop lid without

I can confirm the bug in the last release of the driver from ATI (8.42.3) with
Gutsy.
Shall we install the 8.37.6 version of the driver? Is there any chance they
(and I mean ATI) fix this?

I'm seeing all kind of users with harddrives with a high
Load_Cycle_Count and a very low worst value close to the threshold
meaning that their drives might die soon.

Hard drive spindown should be configurable
There could be many problems here. First of all, gutsy uses the compiz
window manager my default, which is why metacity isn't found to be
running. However, it may be a problem within compiz itself. I
recommend that you install Compiz Config Settings Manager via Synaptic.
