order to get 12 levels of brightness adjustment, and changed the formulas used
to calculate the next step for decreasing/increasing brightness in order to get

Thanks, problem solved (which nautilus showed that I was using
/usr/local/bin/nautilus, which was obviously some older version, and now
I remember that about year ago I was tinkering something with nautilus,
and obviously left binary in /usr/local/bin to have problems when

This was a clean install, all was fine until the most recent update. I've got a
Dell Mini 9, compiz on.
Evolution isn't running, neither is Pidgin.
Currently, I've removed one of the applets, but the remaining one still
displays empty menu when Pidgin isn't running.

I just upgraded to Jaunty today and I had the same problem with System
Testing crashing. It would only run if I ran it as root from the
command line. I replaced the /etc/checkbox.d/checkbox.ini file with the
one Dave Murphy suggested and the program works fine now. I am using
x64 architecture
A workaround for my problem is to add the following two lines to
/etc/rc.local boot script just before the final exit 0 line:
ifdown eth0
ifup eth0
Doing this has the commands are executed at boot up.
Still, I'd like to help in hunting this down, just leave a message here.

Thanks for the suggestion. It worked. My Windows shares become available
immediately after my wireless connections start.
I had one extra line in my /etc/network/interfaces:

After commenting it a rebooting to test my shares became active again
automatically. I don't pretend

If the original request concerns the same iMon LCD display that I have,
there is no way to power down the display when the PC goes to sleep or
even poweroff. This is because my display is tied to an IR receiver that
is able to power on the machine via a button on the remote, thus the

My friend's laptop requires several boot sequences until the screen
(after Ubuntu's splash screen) is not staying blank.
When it finally works, I noticed that her Xorg.0.log.old has some binary
garbage in it...

Right. In my original report I said the application does not crash.
The calendar and notes portions quit (meaning they are visible, but the
user can't input or view any data). The e-mail portion continues
running fine.

Thanks; I don't think that's the problem in my case, though. My machine is
a laptop--it has virtually no options, its keyboard and mouse are enabled,
and there is no external screen.
