Since I have downgraded kernel to 2.6.20 (a week ago), the error does not show

I don't think the problem comes from the kernel or from X config. I'm also
experiencing the same behaviour under gutsy (kernel 2.6.22-14-generic).
When I open another tty and start X with startx -- :1 everything is alright. It
only happens when using gdm.

I get exactly the same problem on two machines on my network. Others
have upgraded with no problems. I have verified there are no third party

If you look at the comments in the posting on my web site there is a
recent comment by a guy named Bob that explains how to tweak my package

Problem was solved with the new openjdk-6 dependencies. I removed all
other JVMs (sun-java6-*, icedtea-java7-*), apt-get clean, and apt-get
install netbeans. The new install included the openjdk-6-jdk packages,
and i could use it without problems.

The Gnome Sound Recorder with the volume control or the Gstreamer properties
show the microphone correctly but neither actually gets any input from it.

I just updated to the new libx11-6 package and rebooted, but my
performance is still horrible when I am using EXA (i use the "radeon"
driver with an ATI Radeon 9600 XT). Could this be a driver bug?

hi,
well, whatever, from a linux newbie point of view (which is important
if ubuntu want to get windows users) i installed the OS from scratch and
got this driver.
now, since then, i installed ubuntu feisty desktop beta, and my driver
is now the ATI one:
fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenG
my card (made in taiwan) a prism model works fine on 6.10 but not on 7.04
(laptop is a ibm T23 pentiumM)

When i go and test a screen saver, x crashes with a scary messed up
console screen with nothing to do but ctrl-alt-del to reboot.
this happens when pressing the preview button, or sometimes after
returning from the preview.
graphics card is ati x1550 on amd64

i jsut tried it again and it crashes systematically when i exit the
preview by the buttong.

hi,
well, i installed feisty from scratch, formatting the whole drive. since
then, all i did was add applications through synaptic package manager.
as of this, i have no idea why i don't have the right kernel version
from doing standard basic stuff. could this be a bug?

i believe this problem may have been rejected too soon first of all,
the kernel version i had was due to the installation of xen. but, the
bug here occurred much before i ever installed xen, that is with the
kernel version 2.6.20.
to support that, i am now on a fresh install of feisty bet
well well, here comes some news,
This could be a minor bug, since non experts could really have trouble
over this, but after doing an apt-get update as well as refreshing the
install sources (didn't add or remove any), i could now install the
driver.
the driver is now working fine,
