It looks like a bug in /lib/libusb-0.1.so.4 now, not in pcsc-lite. You will need to use gdb to have a better backtrace. -- pcscd assert failure: *** glibc detected *** /usr/sbin/pcscd: free(): invalid pointer: 0x097c6e88 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/551940 You received this bug

2010-05-05 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
libusb worked great in previous Ubuntu versions. Something changed in Ubuntu 10.04 that makes libusb 0.1 fails. Note that pcsc-lite should use libhal instead of libusb but libhal has been deprecated in Ubuntu 10.04. The long term plan is to migrate to libudev. But I have not yet started to work

[Bug 294830] Re: latest pcscd causes crash of firefox

2009-07-05 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
It is not pcscd but, maybe, libpcsclite.so.1. You should provide a debug backtrace of the crash. Execute in a shell: $ /usr/bin/firefox -g This should start firefox in the gdb debugger. Then enter (gdb) run and wait for the crash. Then enter (gdb) backtrace and add the generated trace to this bug

[Bug 192366] Re: Smartcard reader not working (CASTLES EZ100PU)

2009-09-17 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
You should not have to rebuild pcscd if you use a version of pcsc-lite = 1.5.4 (June 2009) - if RFAddReader() fails with the libhal scheme then we try with the (old) libusb scheme. This patch should allow proprietary drivers to work even if pcsc-lite is compiled with libhal support. Ubuntu
