My laptop is a Dell Precision M90 which is actually an XPS M1710 but
designed for the business market (aesthetic changes). It normally ships
with an nVidia Quadro but I upgraded it to an nVidia Go 7950 GTX. So it

I did not have Num Lock on. As on my 13-inch notebook the number pad is
on the normal keyboard this would have prevented me from typing several
letters. This was really not the case during my tests.

I also have recently been experiencing this bug on an internal drive
/dev/sda5. Ubuntu no longer mounts the drive when it boots. Also I
experience the error message when I attempt to mount the drive by
clicking on the drive in Nautilus. However, I can mount the drive with
the command: sudo

The crash still happens with xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu12. Xorg.0.log shows some
different addresses, but otherwise the startup and backtrace are the
same. Trying to run it in the debugger now.

Running Ubuntu 8.10 with latest updates installed.
Running point #2 shows that an event is not seen on Fn+F4. Tried running
it also form console, but it complained about being unable to open the
display.
I've realised that trying to switch to external monitor only works from
the console
output of lshal | grep system.hardware

I found out that enabling Full Duplex in the KDE System
Settings-Sound System-Hardware and setting every control to the
maximum, I can record sound from either the Front Mic or the Mic,
depending on which one is selected as the input in alsamixer. However,
the volume recorded is very low.

I just installed 180.22, set the resolution, refresh rate, and Video
Blitter Adapter Settings is unchecked. I'll keep you informed of

Display corruption after short period
With skim, scim-bridge, and kwin's desktop effects all disabled, I got
the flickering and eventually the black screen again, so please
disregard my above posts about those other packages. Sorry if I was
misleading.
