I just reinstalled Ubuntu 9.10 from scratch. System Administration
Hardware drivers wouldn't allow me to activate the proprietary Nvidia
drivers on my in-place upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. I have a
Latitude D800 and am running 2.6.31-14-generic. I'm now running Nvidia
173.14.20 proprietary
I got the same problem on my Acer travelmate laptop, but in my case the
problem seems to come from the acpi driver of the kernel.

Commenting out the following (from comment #11) and reinstalling
wine-1.2 solved the problem and resulted in a successful wine
installation:

There is another problem, but only when the laptop runs on battery.
There seems to be some time limit for entering the password after
suspend. After that limit the laptop goes to sleep again.

Hi there, i've the same bug, it failes getting the ip adress. I have a Asus
stick
This is not a networkmanager bug, but a kernel bug, because it accured when I
upgraded a linux mint 9.04 to the new karmic kernel.
I have tried to use WICD but even then it does'nt work.
I also tested the stick in
I see the same error, although I have managed to get the Gnome sound
working, the KDE programs still generate same error in console. I hope
the data would help.

Symptoms: Installation running smoothly. A window appears
searching/examining hard drives - cannot remember the wording. At
reproducible 47% the progress bar stops and some seconds later the
screen freezes. No possibility to get out of this.
