A 6 month old pc running 11.04 hangs every time screen saver starts. No
key presses, mouse can wake it, just black screen. I tried disabling
gnome-screensave, but xscreen saver daemon must be started manually. I
forget to run daemon and it hangs after screen saver starts.

FWIW, I upgraded to 2.6.32-316-ec2 #31 on Ubuntu 10.04 running on an
E5507 and I have not run into this issue on any of the boxes I'm running

I have the same bug, totem runs well for awhile then randomly crashes
then has this issue of not playing any videos. I tried using VLC and
Banshee but they crash too. Just a note: The programs will start up...

I just noticed the gdb I posted in my attachment had useless information
due to user-error so I deleted it to prevent confusion. when this bug

BTW, this is NOT just Evolution that has this problem. Other windows
also have this issue as well. Despite being intended for netbooks, Unity
pays little attention to the wide variety of screen sizes, in particular
short screens.

We installed the 2.6.38-rc7 Linux kernel as per the instructions above.
It did fix the shutdown problem. The computer reliably shuts down now
without issue.
On boot though, before the Ubuntu splash screen comes up saying for ata
1 and ata 2: softreset failed - driver not ready. Then it says
the ATI video driver he has installed before I do this.

I can't seem to find any way to fix this at this stage.
The ping command returns 0 for a ping address but terminal pings are fine.
trace works fine.

I can not ping in network tools but can in terminal.
All other functions seem to work fine.
Also network tools doesn't keep the last ip address in the clipboard
like 8.04.
I am using 10.10 from 8.04.
Any help would be great.
