I have this code that's doing scp over from a windows + cygwin machine. I have

Nope, it's been fixed (thanks). At least it's working for me. But I

I experience the same thing on a 945, with compiz, using EXA and
MigrationHeuristic greedy. xv used to work with these settings some days ago.
Now, same as you: it starts but uses 100%cpu and it is super slow. More system
info available upon request.

I just upgraded to xserver-xorg-video-intel - 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu4 (latest
updates), did a sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg, rebooted for good
measure, and still the same issue with super slow compiz/firefox scrolling.

I see exactly the same symptoms (network is listed normally under the
nm-applet, but selecting it fails to connect).

after selecting the main US server, linux-restricted-
modules-2.6.24-10-generic was available and installed allright.
Even though this solved the problem for me, I seems that this relates to
a problem in the handling of the ubuntu mirrors: Why was the kernel
