The cause of the assertion/crash in comment 93 is the RemoveFrame we added
causes a lot of first-letter frames to become empty. Then we reflow one
of those and it can't handle that. (See bug 578977.)

Yes, every time I open Adept Updater and click Fetch List of Updates it
suggests I should remove the emacs packages as shown in the screenshot.
It's really annoying since I have to manually Cancel changes on these
packages every time I apply the updates.

Good for you, it still doesn't explain why Adept is suggesting I should remove
the latest
I got tired of waiting for a fix here so I just let Adept go ahead and remove it
and then reinstalled it with a quick sudo apt-get install emacs22 and that
seems to have fixed it. Adept isn't suggesting it should be removed anymore.

I tried Suspend again, when booting up it got stuck with a xscreenlock dialog
that after providing the password said the system is locked by another process
(kdesktop_lock pid=XXX) or something like that. Can't remember how I got
around that one the last time. Ctrl+Alt+F4 did not help, there
