Before ./inst_gl860 -m did you make another driver installation with
your current kernel ? This may explain why -m worked properly.
The LED issue has never been reported before. Could you post the result
of grep gl860 /var/log/syslog 30 seconds after you close Cheese or
Skype ? I don't know
About the LED, the gspca_main module IS NOT fully compliant with the
gspca_gl860 module. So please install with ./inst_gl860 -i. Using the
-m may result in troubles with your kernel. I will remove the option.

Uppon reboot, the camera did not work anymore.
I made a mistake in the script because it does not install anything, it only
compiles and loads the driver. After reboot your system is left untouched.
I'm writing an install/desinstall script.

Hi Mackenzie! I forgot to tell that the GSPCA version with the gl860
driver is in 2.6.32. This is why the load4 script download V4L sources
before applying the patches. It is possible to install the latest GSPCA
but this requires videodev and some other modules to be compiled so if

A new driver version is availble for tests. The tarball content is a load
script (load_gspca2) and a patch applied by the script to the sources of V4L.
You need an internet connection to do the test because a tarball is downloaded
to get v4l sources.

The driver version selection is automated but when it has been
previously set, the install script gets it instead of trying to guess.
For your webcam sensor, I got from testers three different kind of logs (a, b,
c) and their settings allowed by the corresponding Windows driver are
different.

I would like some precision about the issue with upside down image and
the messed up image.
Do the upside down image goes right up after a short time?
Several mounths ago the images started AND STAID upside down in poorly lit
conditions. This was solved with the driver waiting for 3 images to be

About that volume control applet, when you move the mouse on the applet and
change the volume with the help of the mouse wheel (so without clicking on the

There is fixes but the driver doesn't work with all applications. Ekiga, VLC,
Xawtv have troubles and I'm aware of system freezes with these applications.
Consequently, it is not stable and there is no reason to propose the driver in
any repository. Moreover even if it was part of the kernel,
