I am trying to use a mobile broadband sim with my TabletPC running
Ubuntu 18.04, but it doesn't work, I get: "Connection Failed: Activation
of network connection failed" when trying to connect with it. HOWEVER,
if I boot this same TabletPC into Windows 10, the sim works fine.
We also needed pgpool2 in bionic so I decided to try to compile it from
the 18.10 source package found here:

It compiled without any issues, built into 4 binary debs, which I
installed on 18.04

Trying to get a wireless laptop to mount a CIFS drive at boot time.
However, keep getting error below. It appears that the attempt at
mounting the CIFS drive is taking place before the wireless network
comes online. However, I have the _netdev specified on the mount which
I agree with Andy's sentiment. I run phpmyadmin 4.8.3 on several 18.04
systems. Once the tmp directory is defined and the secret error defined
its good to go. For a LTS release this should have been fixed.

I think I was incorrect when I thought I had a pristine install. I had
tried to install a number of packages using apt-clone, and I believe
they messed something up. When I started from scratch again without the
apt-clone attempt, it works!

I can confirm I had this same issue with multiple different versions of
Ubuntu that I was trying to install via a USB stick created with
Unetbootin. I had previously been in the habit of rewriting a USB thumb
drive with different bootable images without cleaning it first. When I
started wiping
It was a bit painful cleaning up the mess in Ubuntu 18.04. I couldn't
resolve the unmet dependencies issues after apt removed about half the
packages on my install. I ended up reinstalling without formatting, and
adding the packages I wanted afterwards.

I've tested the Xenial-proposed kernel on a machine that was previously broken
(even performed a fresh install to this effect). The proposed kernel
(4.13.0-39) fixes the problem.

Tested your -38 kernel for this issue from comment #67 and I can confirm
it allows me to log in with SSSD and an LDAP user. Outputs for your

This bug seems to be the closest match to what I'm experiencing. I'm
hitting similar trouble on desktop/graphical Ubuntu on some Dell
laptops.
Ubuntu 16.04 AMD64.
Happening on kernel versions 4.13.0-38 and 4.4.0-116.
I've tried version 4.4.0-117 as posted by @kamalmostafa - same result.

The difference is that I can't log in. So it dies before it asks me to
login.
The workaround is to boot into an old kernel.

This issue is becoming more than a nuisance. On 03/14/18 no less than 6
reboots were required to eliminate separate episodes of the behavior.
