The bug should clearly be closed. Here's why.
The problem I reported should have been very common. There should have been
more than a few indignant nvidia users whose batteries died. Because it was
just me, I tend to think it was a coincidence involving my battery or
I tried re-compiling today (10 February 2011) and the bug seems to be no longer
present.
I believe that the bug may have been fixed in the current release, which I
used.

This is my last 2000 or so lines to the install script run after the
command sudo checkinstall, followed by my unsuccessful attempt to run
notepad in wine.
I also tried installing wine the old way, sudo make install, and that
produced the same results. That is, it did not find wine or notepad.
This is a wine bug. The wine developers just directed me to it.

I should add that removing the configuration folder .kabikaboo makes the
program able to be re-opened, so the problem may be that it cannot
recover from an improper shutdown.

The program does work, and works well. It's just that the repository has the
wrong package.
I was just e-mailed 0.2rel-2.1 and it works great. It's a wonderful little

The card is behaving much better, it almost works. The contortions that I used
to go through have been much reduced, but there are still problems.
When the computer boots up, if the card is installed, there is about a 50%
chance that it will not work, despite being recognized in alsamixer.
Kernel appears to work, and to solve the problem.
Hooray.
I have not tested it extensively, but am running a newly installed system with
syslog in place, and everything is taking the proper amount of CPU.
As per your instructions, did not load NVIDIA drivers. My screen resolution is
800x600
I'm the commenter with the Indigo IOX. My card now works with incoming
sound, FWIW.

ubuntu-bug firefox gives me this.
With this screen open, it did appear that ubuntu-bugs sent you a
report... it just couldn't attach it to this bug with this browser.

I think the problem is that firefox or some of the updated add-ons corrupted
the user profile. I deleted the user profile and now it works.

The terminal output seems to point to a pulse dependency problem.

This may not be a linux-rt problem because I tried installing linux-mint which
has a generic kernel, and got the same thing.
So I re-installed Ubuntu Studio totally clean, just now, and the problem is the
same.
Both CPU cores running at 85 to 90%, with no programs running.

uninstall rsyslog.
