I can confirm this. Transmission QT uses less than 1% of my cpu while running
and is very very smooth.
The GTK version uses over 13 and generally is very slow to scroll, switching to
the theme Clearlooks has resolved this.

This sounds like something hard to lock down. I did a bit of testing
using audio as the main issue. Using the generic kernel, audio would
stutter when the system went into swap and had any cpu load. The server
kernel allows audio to play solid, and generally things seem responsive.

I think this occurs with newer versions of packages from the ricotz
gnome shell PPA. So this bug is invalid for Ubuntu. (My mistake!)
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Epiphany from standard repository.
2. Add ricotz gnome shell repository.
3. Run 'sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude safe-upgrade'
You can easily work around this in Lucid. Just remove the indicator-
applets, and as said above add gnome-volume-control-applet to start-up
applications. The log in and back out, the notification area will take
over like usual.

There is a workaround for this currently. Set the video settings right
when you open Pitivi, and THEN import the clips, edit and render. Works
fine here. Thanks to someone on the ubuntu forums for pointing that out.

Pitivi: When converting a video, the result has a black border, even if set

for unknown reasons. They were all created from the same source the same
