Hi Tim,
#9 is only a workaround till this nasty freeze bug is fixed. It is not a

AFAIK the rt2860sta is in staging because it does bring its own stack instead
of using the in kernel mac80211 stack. Not because it is especially flakey.
For the same reason it will also never make it from staging to the kernel
proper. Instead the rt2x00 driver family is supposed to take over.
thanks, looks like someone had mercy with me, the latest official 10.10

You
I am sorry to say that I do not have good information about this bug at this
time. I do not remember exactly what was in the search box. Something like
kdenlive or openshot. Maybe from newly added ppas.
I have seen this bug last year a lot on another computer, where it seems gone
now. On this

It is extremely annoying if i enter something in the Firefox search box.
I use empathy with my facebook account (many people friends going on and

Public bug reported:
On Oct.18th 2010 release 6.22-0ubuntu1~10.10 and ...10.04 of sun-java6
package were released to maverick and lucid but karmic, jaunty and hardy
are still on older versions. As 6.22 fixes a lot of CVE security issues,
this should be made available to the other supported ubuntu
Wow, over 15000 phy0 - rt2x00pci_regbusy_read: Error - Indirect
register access failed: log lines in under 6 minutes.
I think its best to undupe this bug. On closer look it differs because here
unlike bug 589342:
rt2800pci can successfully connect. Trouble only starts after suspend-resume.
Hi valkyr
Thanks for your bug report. It would be great if you could help by
testing this further.
Two things:
Your lspci.txt says:
Kernel driver in use: rt2800pci
Kernel modules: rt2860sta, rt2800pci
I think it would be a good idea to make sure the rt2860sta is not somehow
involved in
Gadget3000, it has been over two month and a new kernel since your
report. Could you test whether this is still an issue for you in final
maverick?
I see that you have:
RaLink RT2800 802.11n PCI [1814:0601]
Architecture: i386
The rt2800pci is becoming more mature and might by now be able to drive
Simão, your problem looks quite a bit different:
04:06.0 Network controller: RaLink Device 3060
...
Kernel modules: rt2800pci
in contrast to my hardware:
lspci -k|grep -i --after-context=3 network
03:00.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2860
Subsystem: Foxconn International, Inc. Device

Frank, could you please verify that it is a RaLink RT2860 [1814:0781]
(output of lspci -vvnn) that fails (with the rt2800pci) for you on 32
bit. A different hardware than the original report could be the reason
you have different symptoms.
If it is a different hardware, would you please file a

rt2800pci_load_firmware: Error - PBF system register not ready.

You received this bug notification because you are a
So it's not fixed in mainline, either.
Try this as a workaround (booting the standard kernel again):
https://launchpad.net/~markus-tisoft/+archive/rt3090/+files/rt3090-dkms_2.3.1.7-0ubuntu0~ppa2_all.deb
blacklist rt2800pci
blacklist rt2860sta
That might work, according to e.g. comments 83+85 in
I'm happy to hear that :-)
The nice thing about dkms packages is that they compile themselves
whenever necessary. So a new kernel should just take a bit longer to
boot the first time. No human intervention necessary.

rt2800pci
I did a few tests on a WPA2 router:
Results:
2.6.36rc8 64bit self-compiled ralink: works (this is the only driver that can
also do ad hoc mode with good speed)
64 bit live:
rt2800pci: wlan unavailable (syslog shows an error loading firmware ...PBF)
rt2860sta works; connects immediately
** Summary changed:
- [Maverick][2.6.35] RT2860 (ralink) support seems to be broken (it fails to
connect to secured wireless networks)
+ [Maverick][2.6.35] RT2860 (ralink) broken with rt2800pci for amd64
