totalmix (for Linux the software to use it is called hdspmixer) is just
a mixer without effects and the Linux version of total mix isn't
comparable with the new totalmix
I use a RME UCX interface. I does "work with Linux", meaning recent
versions of ALSA, but has nowadays no official support from RME.
You would only get advice from the user's forum, but no specific driver

The good thing is, it has a USB-compliant mode, which needs only a

I have been researching interfaces that work in linux. I tried the duet
because i had access to it. I should have realized at the start that the
prob was that the usb bus is not supplying power to the device. when you
plug it in, the apogee logo lights up, but thats it. the unit is not

I can Understand why such a Company like Apogee could actually not want to

A "normal" phantom powered condenser mic has got no output, if there
isn't phantom power.

yes thats true. what i could find out from searching was that apogee didn't
support linux, but was an old post. was hoping things had changed, will
see. if it doesn't, no harm no foul. will exhaust all settings in jack and
alsa to make sure.

In jack i chose hw1, which is duet usb, for input and output device. In
alsa mixer in the capture screen initally the digital output was 24 and all
other outputs in the capture screen were 0. I maxed the digital, capture1

I am trying to use apogee duet audio interface in ubuntu studio 13.04. Jack
recognizes device, but will not power mics. tried phantom as well as
standard dynamic mics, but no signal sent to ardour. Even tried running
audacity without jack and same thing. software recognizes duet but no
signal. trie
