Hi,
I've been trying to wean a newbie off Pardus with its risible attitude
to security (as he explains, the reason I want to use Linux isn't the
security, it's the stability), but with his minimal command line skills
Kubuntu needs to have graphical tools for installing wireless card
drivers via
Yes it does mate:
The Ndisgtk package does this (Windows Wireless Drivers in add/remove programs).
Install it and it creates a Windows Wireless Drivers entry in system
administration. You can now point it to the .inf file from a Windows
driver disk You never know it just might work ;-)

His only internet access is via wireless; so Ndisgtk's not included on
the CD, then ;-)
It's not, but if you're a glutton for punishment, you could get it
from here for him:

Oh bollocks. We don't want to scare the lad, so I'm afraid it's going to
have to be PCLinuxOS :-(
I'm surprised, doesn't he have a wired ethernet connection on his PC ?

Only problem is the suspend functionality. If I pick the suspend option
when logging out, it seems to work. If I set it to suspend when I close
the lid, I get the gdm login screen when I bring it back up. Is this
fixable? Note I had similar problems under Edgy.
It sort of works on

Thanks, but I wouldn't want to make presumptions about the size of my
Dutch friend's monthly cap. Is there a simple way of finding out whether
all the Ndisgtk dependencies are satisfied by a default Feisty CD
install?

I'm not sure - the only way I can think of is to work your way backward

It seems likely that I will acquire a new Mac mini, What's the procedure

Just wanted to let you know that I've added a load of marketing material to

I have 7.04 on a laptop and the restart works ok. However on a desktop

I had the same issue, seems like the upgrade is smart and discounts any
space it'll need for packages, so while you have 1gb free, it'll
probably use 500ish for packages. My solution was to download the alt cd
and upgrade from that.
It is now saying it needs 201MB in
