Hiya,
I've been using 7.10 since the beta, and have obviously installed every
update that it offered. At the moment, Update checker reports no
updates. Just to check, I won't gain anything if I reinstall from the
final CD, will I?
Last time I rebooted (which was before the final release) a GRUB m
Hi,
Is anyone else having problems with the speed of evolution on Gutsy?
I have checked, it is not the most up to date version,
I have just managed to get my parents converted to ubuntu and would love
this to work.

Hi, I've just noticed whilst looking at the mailing list site and viewing
this months emails sorted by thread, that emails sent by me aren't threading
under the message I'm replying to.
Can anybody help me with this? I'm using gmail, so could I have a setting
wrong?
I'm sure this has been covered
That's interesting. On my X31 (great laptop) the Fn-F5 combo does
nothing, I have read that it should operate the bluetooth adapter - I
have to switch it manually if it should get turned off by accident. I
don't have the standard wireless card though, this could account for the
differences.

Good point about the returns - what support, if any, are Tesco's offering?
Maybe a quiet word with the store manager and a note left with the customer

I've used it in Feisty. When you're finished with the temporary user
account, you issue an oem-config-prepare command as root and shut the
machine down. The next boot takes you (ie. the end user) through a

What model is your laptop? With my ThinkPad I can turn off various
internal devices including the Wireless adapter. In Windows it's a
checkbox to switch on and off but in Ubuntu I have to send commands to
ACPI files in /proc. I believe there are several laptops that work in
the same way.
Hope this

I've had great success with Atheros based cards on Ubuntu. I've had a
Belkin Cardbus adapter that was an Atheros 5004 and worked perfectly in

I'm in the process of researching for a USB Headset for use with VoIP on

The last time I looked into this, one of our techys at work said that some
headsets suffered from low volume into the ear piece and in a noisy

Err, I know this sounds daft, but what happens if you contact the
manufactuers directly and say "I'm running Linux kernal 2.whatever, which of
your cards will work?"
Perhaps, if they actually want to make the sale, they do have a
compatability list or am I being a bit naive?
