[ubuntu-uk] Strange difference between Remix and Desktop

2010-07-07 Thread Gordon
I have Remix 10.04 on a flash drive and Desktop 10.04 on a CD. If I start the Live CD on my Tosh Satellite, it tells me that the Wireless device is not ready and I can't connect. If I run the Remix from the flash drive on the same machine it finds the Wireless adapter and I can connect. Aren't

[ubuntu-uk] Wirless N

2010-07-07 Thread Simon Wears
Heyhey fancy people, I've decided to go wireless this year as I'm moving into a new house (and sticking holes in the walls for Ethernet isn't an option), so I'm looking for a wireless N card. Has anyone got one, or know of one that just works out of the box on Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit)? I'd prefer a

[ubuntu-uk] OT: Sony PRS 300 and ebook readers in general

2010-07-07 Thread Harry Rickards
Hi, I've got a budget of around £90 to spend on a second hand ebook reader, and I'm looking at bidding on a Sony PRS-300 on eBay. Has anyone had any good/bad experience with this particular device, and has anyone had any experiences with using ebook readers on linux (I'm planning to use calibre)?
