another possibility is that more places may offer computers with linux
installed or without OS (and cripple gadget) because there will then be
a market for them to people like us, if we can't just buy any old pc and
put our favourite distro on it.

Long after upgrading to 6.10, I wanted to change one of the partitions
that gets mounted. So off I goes to edit /etc/fstab (as you would),
only to find it full of gibberish instead of neatly understandable
/dev/hda etc. etc..
