installs on Xubuntu. All have been problem-free at install time and runtime.
Like others, I suspect it is a Gnome or Compiz issue.
Users should be aware that the version of OO in the Ubuntu repository is not
Hi all,
I am running openoffice 3.1.1 on Kubuntu Karmic Koala. Currently the spell
checker doesn't work: deliberately misspelt words are not highlighted or
corrected. I have tried reinstalling openoffice and deleting the files in
~/.openoffice.org/3/user folder, but none of these fix the

I have to say, Norman, that's the first time I've ever heard of such a thing.
I'd recommend he re-installs Openoffice in the first instance (ie. go

problem a while back where I had to tinker with the font smoothing (or
something like that) to get the menu's to appear. Same deal with
Scribus.

The backports guys may be worth a try. They aim to include newer
versions of software then the main repository.
But if you are going to Intrepid anyway, it's probably less hassle
just to wait, as Intrepid will include OO.o 3.

Hi folks,
As OpenOffice.org has been released, I wondered if anyone knew of any
repositories where it can be downloaded from?
I'd rather use a repository (which I would presume would offer updates
occasionally) than just install the .deb packages off the OpenOffice web
site manually.
