I like the idea, but I feel the 'glass' flag sticks out like a sore
thumb compared to the flat logo. I also think you're likely to run into
problems with Ubuntu's
If all other UK specific details are left out of the logo, then
perhaps other groups could be encouraged to follow suit and create a
uniform international logo style. Possibly, improving the overall
effectiveness of the style in the long run.

If you follow the policy to the letter, and don't apply for permission
then all we can do is come up with a non-ubuntu derived logo and
(possibly) stick the (ed|k|x)ubuntu logos on there.
