I don't think I have any graphics card related options in the BIOS (AMI
with relatively few settings, laptop). I will look it up at next boot.

Exact same issue here, not just with resume from sleep but also resume
from blank screen. When I reopen the lid for my laptop, xorg crashes
and I am returned to the login screen and a crash is reported regarding
package xserver-xorg-video-intel.

Hi Rafi,
avivotool can be used to assist in debugging this issue. avivotool is provided
with the radeontool package, so to install it run:
sudo apt-get install radeontool
After installing it, you run it like this:
avivotool regs all regdump_good.txt
avivotool regs all
something similar happens to me too with lucid beta1.. i can hear the
sound when it boots, but the screen looks like a grid of pixels. my
graphic card is GeForce 8400M GS / dell inspiron 1520. ctrl+alt+f1
doesn't work, so i don't know how to switch to a terminal.

Sorry, by adding the parameter radeon.new_pll=0 to the kernel command
line the problem is not solved. I will upload a new set of logs with
apport-collect immediately.
If I remove the splash parameter from the command line Ubuntu boots
without flicker (and much faster).
