The trigger and symptoms seem suspiciously similar to bug #535640, even
though there's no GPU lockup set here. That bug may have been exposed
by a patch dropped in the .33 drm backport into the 2.6.32-16 kernel -
can you reproduce this crash on the 2.6.32-15 kernel or earlier?

It's quite possible that in scenarios 1 3 you're running into a
manifestation of bug #535640. There is also a new 2.6.32-17 kernel in
Lucid that will soon become the default, and that has some drm fixes.
It seems like, apart from the lid-close problem, disabling the

[i965gm] lucid a2: crash some time between closing
I have added the keyboard layout in my branch... however, I get a XKB
error message when trying to add that keyboard layout, so it seems there
is still something missing... does anyone here know more about adding
keyboard layouts to XKB?
** Branch linked:
** Description changed:
After update to karmic, and enabling desktop effects, while playing
AisleRiot solitaire (Spider), I was suddenly logged out. After logging
in again, the crash report system notified that xorg had crashed. This
happened twice.

@Chris: That's correct. In Karmic with the nv-driver I can only use the
laptop's internal monitor, the external is not detected. When I use the
nvidia-driver only the external monitor ist detected, the only screen I can
select in the settings is the external monitor.
