This is getting sad. I am now resorting to booting up on my microsoft
hard drive because the Ubuntu crash is occurring consistently after
about five minutes of use regardless. Last night I had to give up
trying to reply because the screen would just go blank and flash the
bars as I was typing.
I've went through some information from:

does not help but kernel parameter

Hi Bryce, thanks for reviewing this. Not sure why you've added 'hardy'
tag at this time. Is that a request for further info on 8.04? I still
have install media back to 6.06, so if you want additional info on 8.04
on this computer I can supply.
I also tried Puppy 5 on this machine this week.

Ok I came to conclusion that this is hardware problem. My touchpad dies
from time to time on my laptop and during those times it acts up for 2-3
months and then randomly fixes it self (the hardware). I have done
further investigation but I bet it has to do with drivers being confused
by the bad

[lucid] Blank screen with KMS on Thinkpad X201 with Arrandale (i915)
this is what got my system working again:
* ssh in from remote
* delete existing /etc/X11/xorg.conf (this step may not have been needed)
* download from nvidia.com the NVIDIA-Linux-*.run for your hardware and
copy it to your PC (I did it with a second PC and transfered via scp)
