Did the system actually lock up on you requiring a power cycle? Or did
it display this error dialog but you didn't notice anything wrong?
It looks from the logs like it locked up but then automatically
recovered itself. (Which I think is a bug we already know of.)

my laptop the response is very slow and unworkable due to a intel driver

No idea what is happening here, gedit crashed (and apport failed to
upload the crash report) then this came up and .crash file is actually
showing a timestamp in the future. I don't think it's related to my GPU
hang on boot

In rekonq if you have desktop effects on (KDE 4.6.0/Kubuntu 10.10),
