I run a partition for test releases only. The main purpose is so when I do a distribution upgrade on my working partition there won't be any major hiccups. If I upgrade my test partition again to Natty, will this be fixed? I don't want to go back to the drawing board again with a live Gparted.

Thanks! From looking at the log, everything seems to be fine. EDID is read out, and it sets up 1024x768@85 which is the mode preferred by the monitor. At the end of the log, 1024x768@60 is set, I suppose this is something Gnome does, maybe because of a user preference in ~/.config/monitors.xml.
