why is it the flgrx installer now? sorry for beeing a n00b but it is

You received this bug notification because
I experienced the bug with both the free and the other driver.
I just press the power button for a few seks, which kills the machine
and start anew... not sure what you mean by whehter I can ssh into the
machine. The moment I have a freeze I cannot do anything
hard to isolate the problem, too
So, any idea what can I help to eliminate this bug? Thanks in advance.

It is possible reproduce on 10.04 (lucid)
With supported nvidia driver 256.52 it works fine.
With PPA buntu-x-swat/x-updates driver 270.29-0ubuntu1~lucid~xup2 it fails.
It looks like problem on nvidia drivers, but I am not able to find any similar
bug report on http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/foru
Ok i applied all the latest updates from ubuntu, got the dbg packages
and used gdb with Xorg. I struggled a bit to get a backtrace because I
needed the libc6-dbg too.. Anyway here you go !
Note that this only happens when I log on the session with effects
enabled.
** Attachment added: "backtrace
You've got some weird wireless error messages in your dmesg.
Anyway, this sounds more like a power manager issue than X. X failures
generally don't result in zombie processes, that sounds more like
plumbing layer misbehavior.
Also I notice you have VirtualBox installed, which could cause problem
