I just installed 12.04 beta2 and the pci=bios solution works flawlessly under
32bit.
After the initial installation you edit the grub settings and add the pci=bios
option, then after update-grub you can install the nvidia drivers.

thx for the fix ... that makes things better ... but there are still issues

Add support for gathering gdm and other display manager logs if the
display manager is being currently used.
In xdiagnose 2.3 and earlier we collected gdm logs (as well as lightdm),
but going forward we only collect the lightdm logs. Users who have
upgraded from past
I hope this covers it.. let me know if anything else is needed.

I now have complete failure of the precise beta version OS!!!
All I have left is firefox. and only because apport openend it to add
comments to another bug.
each update made my PC lock up more and more, until even update-manager
no longer worked.
you may think me paranoid but why is it that
Rants should be delivered over in the forums...comments here should only
be about resolving this issue. Given the lack of information about your
myriad issue(s) I don't see how anyone can help you...and I suspect you
should not be beta-testing a pre-release version of Ubuntu.

Sample fix for panning/scaling
Attached patch has been posted to mailing list for discussion but no
replies so far. Posting here so it doesn't get lost.
This combines fix for panning from another patch and adds scaling fix as
well.
