I am experiencing some crashes again after resuming from suspend. The
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is indeed at the prior version, and for at
least a few weeks this seemed to solve the issues (to reveiw, for me at
least on my Thinkpad T520 the problem occurred in me being kicked out to
the login
I can't believe, that not a single person in the Ubuntu development
groups are able to reproduce this critical bug. 12.04 seems to be the
sudden end of a great operating system. Now, it is back to other
solutions, such as the rock solid FreeBSD.

not true. even with the latest driver installed, downloading a simple
program from the ubuntu software center started causing the random log
outs again. thanks to a suggestion from @Romuald C. i used the .run file
provided by nvidia to reinstall the driver instead of using a deb
package. now my
A ray of hope for the alternative. After fixing a bug in the nvidiabl
kernel module[1] I can use the standard OS brightness controls to
control the backlight. More work needs to be done on that, and it needs
to be brought into Ubuntu, but it is the proper solution and it does
work for many
This project is very urgent to be fixed, i am fully updated and i only
have the 295.49 of nvidia driver...
295.49 was release by nvidia the 3 May of 2012.

When I enable the nouveau driver for my NVIDIA 9600GT, the second
monitor is always blank (and turned off in power saving mode). The
desktop is there, I can move windows/mouse pointer off the primary

After a lot of messing around, it turns out that my second DVI-I output
DVI-I-2 only works in analog with a vga adapter and not digitial mode.
