Tried talking about this on IRC (#intel-gfx on FreeNode). It was
suggested to me to capture the kernel log after setting drm.debug to
0x5. That produced quite a lot of log output (70 thousand lines in
about a minute), and after some trimming I got something that could
perhaps be useful:

I also have this problem, but the funny thing is, if I maximize any
window on the display link monitor, the issue of choppy mouse movements
goes away. I will clarify that dragging a window around is still
choppy, but not nearly as bad.. I even tried setting the background
color to 'black'
