I'm currently running the 3.14.2 kernel and the bug persists.
I believe that it comes from the nvidia driver. Whenever the
screen freezes and I have to log back in, I see the following
message in the Xorg logs:

I'm seeing this problem on Ubuntu 14.04 trying to install Wine in a box
with nvidia-304-updates driver.

In 13.10, every program I had maximized would lose the title bar and be
merged into the global bar. But certain programs (terminator, hexchat,
thunderbird, virtualbox, spotify, etc... are not. Programs with custom
UI's seem to not be effected by this (PHPStorm, MySQL

I recently upgraded my Xubuntu installation to 14.04. After doing so, I

specifies this to be an Nuvou drivers issue (or rather missing Nvidia drivers).
To correct the problem install the nvidia drivers. You can do this on the login
screen press ctrl+alt+F2, which will bring you to a TTY

the integrated graphic controller could be enabled / disabled in BIOS,
if enabled, the graphic controller is [1002:9991] as well, and this issue could
be reproduced.
