Same problem here: Studio XPS 1647. Tried with 2.6.35, 2.6.36 maverick, and
lucid 2.6.35 rc1 and had the same problem.
The only thing I get from the xorg log is : "fglrx(0) : AC Offline" and
"fglrx(0) : AC Online". Then it freezes. I have an Ati mobility radeon 4670.

Dual monitors: Use twinview. There is no need to have xinerama enabled if you

When I resume from a suspend, 50% of the times the mouse pointer is invisible.
This is always fixed if I switch to some other VT and then return to X.

I have this problem, too. All I can think of adding is that it only
happens when you are trying to return to the first user that logged in,
and it doesn't matter which user it is.
I've set identical permissions to two users, and have done the
following:
Log into userA; switch to userB; wait on B;
Its seems that is fixed...
